Are you an experienced Engineering Manager ? Looking for a new challenge with an established, successful manufacturing business going through an extended period of success and seeing significant investment into site and new machinery ?
Job Overview
The Engineering Manager will lead a team of 20 engineering and technical staff to deliver high-quality maintenance solutions within a fast paced, dynamic and innovative manufacturing environment. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and teams. Ensuring machinery and equipment are maintained to the highest standard and consistently deliver excellent OEE figures. Working closely with the Operations Manager to schedule and meticulously plan the required PPM's using our CMMS. Also ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and according to specifications while fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.

- Hours: 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers across a 4 shift system covering 24/7 with both electrical & mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Build and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback & support professional growth through coaching.
- Ensure safe working practices are always strictly adhered to.
Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of engineering projects.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, & resource allocation to ensure successful completion.
- Identify risks and issues and develop strategies for mitigating them.
Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise in solving complex engineering challenges.
- Ensure the team follows best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance protocols.
- Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and other technical evaluations as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments (Product Management, Quality Assurance, Operations, etc.) to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.
- Communicate engineering progress and roadblocks to upper management and stakeholders.
Resource Management:
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance management of team members.
- Ensure the engineering team has the necessary resources, tools, and technologies to succeed.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate & refine processes to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Implement Agile methodologies to streamline workflows.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Manage departmental budgets, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
Innovation and Strategy:
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Provide input into long-term technology strategy and innovation planning.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Electrical or mechanical Engineering qualification, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and complex technical projects.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, project management tools, and software development.
- Strong technical expertise in the relevant engineering discipline.
- Familiarity with modern development tools, platforms, and technologies.
- Strong team-building and mentoring skills with a proven track record of developing engineers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
In Return:
- Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 depending on experience
